THE PLACE BEHIND |
THE PLACE BEHIND: In this series I am exploring ideas of place and memory. By omitting the subject from the original photograph (my source material is from news images and personal images) I am leaving just the place behind in which the action happened. The addition of text tells us what is happening in the original image and allows our mind to complete the scene based on our own interpretation and personal history.

SMOKE |
SMOKE WORK: An ongoing series exploring the ethereal quality of this basic element, carbon. Older work plays with water and fire and newer work seems to allude to imagery and landscape.

LIGHTLY/DARKLY: STUDIES |
These images document over ten years of a friend's botanical collection. I chose to make two prints from each negative. Printing them both light and dark reveals different information about each specimen. It also plays with my interest in the connection between photography and drawing.

PHOTOGRAMS |
Photograms:This is an ongoing series of images made in my darkroom without the use of negatives. Each image is unique. This work allows me to play and get more physically involved in making photographic images. It also is a testing ground for new ideas that pertain to my constant exploration of place/land and objectness.
